2021 – The Year of Challenge

As promised, I’d like to review 2021 and look at 2022 to set some goals.

In February, my dad suffered a very scary stroke. I had a glued ear in August. My partner and several of my friends had COVID-19 in October. It wasn’t pleasant. We all came through it. My doctor was less than helpful afterwards. To conclude the year, I developed another ear infection.

Last year seems to have been the year of ill health, yet also the fulfilment of longstanding goals. My goals last year were:

  • I didn’t move that far along my Bardic Path, but I have now discovered the tools it gives me
  • I have made progress in my Ogham course. I am studying Willow. I found that each tree shows me something unique
  • I’ve managed to get onto a much more stable footing financially
  • I learned how to set up new programming environments using Docker at work
  • After 3 years of discussion, our roof and building were painted!
  • I grew 25 tomato plants and then lost them all to tomato blight.

What have I learned?

  • There are always different solutions to problems
  • One size fits all isn’t good enough for me
  • Sometimes you have to take a risk to get to where you need to be
  • People can be much better off where they need to be
  • Listen to your spirit guides
  • Don’t plant 25 tomato plants close to each other!

This is certainly going to be a fascinating year. My spirits reveal that I will have a lot of inspiration this year. Combined with that, there will be a need to look back and reflect on my life. This year, my goals are:

  • Complete my Ogham Course
  • Become a Celtic Reiki practitioner
  • Learn many Scottish stories to share
  • End the year nearly debt-free
  • Grow a successful season of food
  • Discover if I sit on the Autistic Spectrum!

2021 was a year with a lot of challenges. I expect 2022 to be similar. A lot is going on in the world. But, at the end of the day, all you can do is make sure that you and your own are well!
